Can dandruff shampoos like Selsun Blue/ Denorex cause hairloss?

I used to have very flaky hair so I used Denorex and it worked.. Used it for several years, no problem but I had to switch to selsun blue (because for a while denorex wasn't in any store around me for some reason), lately I've noticed I'm losing amounts of hair out of the norm, even my mother said it's a little bit more than what she thinks would be normal.. I plan to see a doctor, but I'm curious if this has to do with the shampoo, or perhaps stress(I've been in and out of court for the past year, and I lost my job) I've been working out more and I've always ate right.. I've dropped down 20 pounds in the past 3 or so months..

I should also mention the most comes out when I'm washing my hair.. I've never noticed this much before.. Not even a month ago..

I'm a 22 year old male with long thicker hair.. Very few men in my family are bald too..

So, shampoo, stress, diet? Or maybe all..Can dandruff shampoos like Selsun Blue/ Denorex cause hairloss?
yes, shampoo, stress and diet.

stress and losing large amounts of weight always cause more hair to fall out.

also check to make sure u are not allergic to anything in the shampoo, this happens a lot and people don't even realize it.

if ur not flaky anymore, don't use it. use a regular shampoo and when u do get flaky start to use the dandruff one again.

check to make sure u r not allergic to anythign in the shampoo, like wheat, this can sometimes cause internal problems which then lead to severe dandruff or dermatitis. Can dandruff shampoos like Selsun Blue/ Denorex cause hairloss?
Im no doctor but it sounds like it stress if its not then i say diet. I use danfruff shampoo (not that brand though) and have never heard of it ever causing hair loss. Once the dandruff is under control use a gentler shampoo as it really not meant to be used constancely then if it get bad again use it then. Like you said you would go see the doctor. All the best.
I had a good friend that used ';Head and Shoulders'; fine..but switched to ';Selsun Blue'; and started noticing a big hair loss..switched back to the ';Head and Shoulders'; and their hair started growing back..he said that his barber said that it appeared the hair was broken and very dry !
I have used them all, and have psoriasis to boot, but have no hair loss. Could be an allergic reaction though, that is specific to you.

  • Are shampoos that contain 'red 40' or 'blue 1' harmful to your hair / skln?

i noticed that a lot of shampoos contain all these color / dye stuff in them.

just curious, but would my hair or skin turn red if i keep using shampoos

that contain 'red 40' or 'blue 1' in them?

i don't think it would actually change my skin / hair color since i've been

using the same shampoos for quite a while,

but as i said, i'm just sort of curious :]Are shampoos that contain 'red 40' or 'blue 1' harmful to your hair / skln?
    yes it is

    Good purple/blue shampoos for blondes?

I bleached my hair white-blonde and I noticed it was getting darker/yellowy, and some people told me that I should use purple/blue colored shampoos (not the bottle, the actual shampoo haha!) to tone done the yellowness and keep it that platinum shade.

Can anybody reccomend me some good ones?Good purple/blue shampoos for blondes?
You could just put some platinum toner in it, it's only like 10 $ or something at amphigory.com.Good purple/blue shampoos for blondes?
i think sunsilk straighten up shampoo might be purple, its in a purple bottle, but im prettty sure the shampoo itself is purple

    Shampoo Blues!?

I have thick thick hair and use a ton of shampoo and conditioner every day. i always have a little left in the bottom of the bottle, but need to use more than that little bit. Would it hurt my hair if i mixed the shampoo or conditioner together with the other almost empty bottles. And also is there a really good but not too expensive brand that would work for my hair?Shampoo Blues!?
It's not good to wash your hair everyday. I have thick hair too and my shampoo and conditioenr bottles last about 3 months. And yes, it's ok to mix together two different types of shampoos (and same for conditioners). Any shampoo and conditioner should be good for your hair, if you have dry/damaged/frizzy hair I suggest Dove Advanced Care Sheer Moisture. I think that you should try Dove no matter what your hair is like.

    鈾milyShampoo Blues!?
I have the same problem. I use Pravana Products they are great. You dont have to wash your hair everyday and shouldnt it is better for you hair.

I use the Pravana Hydrating shampoo and conditioner.

After about four weeks you will have a hard time not touching your hair.

Most places only sell the small size I have the salon I go to order me the liter size.
i dont think there is anything wrong or bad about mixing 2 bottles of the same shampoo or conditioner. Tresseme would work good for you. I actually bought a gallon of it at a wholesale club several months ago and im still not out.

Difference between Selsun Blue Shampoos? ?

I'm wanting to change shampoos %26amp; conditioners

%26amp; thought I'll give Selsun Blue ago. I've been using Head %26amp; Shoulders for a long time now.

However I noticed Selsun has 3 different ranges:

    Selsun Blue

    Selsun Blue Naturals

    Selsun Salon

Is there any difference between the 3???

Plus with dandruff can you only use shampoo? =\

Coz Selsun Blue has a lot of shampoo %26amp; zero conditioners on its own.Difference between Selsun Blue Shampoos? ?
Selsun Blue uses a selenium compound for dandruff control instead of Head 'n Shoulders' pyrithone zinc. I assume their other products have the same amount of active ingrdient (1% of the selinium compound) as the original product.

Last month I saw a Head 'n Shoulders product in a dark blue bottle that has the same active ingredient as Selsun, and the price is about 1/2 as much per ounce. At that rate you can afford a separate conditioner and get the same dandruff control of the Selsun product!

What shampoo & conditioner should i use for my red or blue highlights to stay in?

    Ok, see i want go get either red OR blue highlights. Somewhat similar to these;

    RED: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/153/353354167_df44add47b.jpg

    BLUE: http://www.brandedcosmetics.co.uk/images/vivid%20Blue.jpg

%26amp; do they look Emo? %26amp; when i get them, do i need to dye streaks in my hair blonde FIRST.or what?

TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO PLEEASE.What shampoo %26amp; conditioner should i use for my red or blue highlights to stay in?
red fades so fast!!!What shampoo %26amp; conditioner should i use for my red or blue highlights to stay in?
Red will stay longer and not fade to green like a blue would most likely do. The hair cut and style determine if the hair looks emo or not. Some kits are a 2 in 1 where it bleaches and colors blue or red in one box or one step, but some others you do separately, depends on what you get and where from. You may not need to prelighten your hair before you put the red in because some will be bright enough on even darker hair. For the blue though, you will probably need to lighten it up first in order for it to come out bright. Sally Beauty Supply has a lot of options to check out and the people that work there can almost certainly help.
For every highlight type, there is a shampoo AND conditioner to come with it. If you did them ur self then somewhere on the bottle there should say something about it, if u did it at the salon ask the ppl and if they have it, theyll sell em tpo you. if not they will probly write down a name and/or tell u where to buy it/em!

    Hope it helped!
you should use shampoo and conditioner for colored hair. and it would look emo only if you dressed the part to. lol

to make the color pop, you need to ethier bleach streaks ir dye them blonde.

  • What kind of shampoo should I use with my Blue-Black hair?

I dyed my hair Blue-Black and the color is awesome! I would like to get some shampoo/conditioner that will help keep the color in longer as well as keeping my hair looking healthy. I have been using Garnier Nuitrise for permed/color treated hair and its conditioner as well as the leave in conditioner that is supposed to protect from the sun.

Should i just stay using it or should I switch to AVEDA and use either their black malva for dark shades or their blue malva for all shades? They are organic so I am sure it cant hurt my hair so what do you think is better or do you reccomend another product? What kind of shampoo should I use with my Blue-Black hair?
Haha, as soon as I saw your headline I went to the Aveda website without even reading that you'd heard about them already.

I would definitely switch to Aveda. I worked in an Aveda salon for two years and the quality of Aveda products is much higher than anything you can find in a grocery store. With continual use of their Blue Malva products, your hair still stay healthy and your color still stay nice and dark.

Good luck! What kind of shampoo should I use with my Blue-Black hair?
I dyed my hair blue black too, and to be honest i'm not sure what shampoo to use either but i do know that washing your hair with cold water instead of warm or hot helps keep the color a bit longer :D

mine is kinda washing out because i don't wash it with cold water :/
as long as ur using shampoo for colored hair u should be fine.. but i like usin pantene's shampoo for black hair... it won't take out the blueish-ness for the black but it will maintain it... and for the record when u have hair this dark every2 weeks u need to use a clarifying shampoo to get al te gunk off the strands and keep hair vibrant
pantene pro v color shine midnight-black.

it works great and helps the color stay because it dispenses some.

its all natural and wont strip the hair so it stays healthy.
any brand is good but make sure on the bottle it says 'for color hair'

i no from experinece... i use pantene and it works great
Ok though I'm not really up for people dying their hair because when u get older ur hair will start to fall out i would say stick with wat ur using =)
don't switch if it's keeping your colors in:)
O'shannigens pig swill. Unknots any hair and leaves u smelling fresher than a sewer in a flood!
    Try Mennen's new ';Shampoo for Blue-Black Hair';
Stay with it. i have a black purbpe die in my hair and that's what i use
    why dye ur hair?

Shampoo with hair dye. Beyond the zone (blue)?

it says to first wash my hair with an alkaline ph shampoo then towel dry. what kind of shampoo or brand? and after i put it in and waited for like 30 min what do i wash it out with? anything special?Shampoo with hair dye. Beyond the zone (blue)?
It doesn't really matter, it just needs to be clean and chemical free so I find that regular dishsoap works perfectly, nothing fancy

If I remember rightly btz is a veggie dye (no developer, very conditioning, usually has a veggie friendly note somewhere on the bottle) so the longer you leave it on the longer it'll stick around without damaging your hair; apply it to dry hair, leave it a few hours (I tend to leave it over night) rinse it for about 5 minutes in cold water then with warm water until it runs clear

You don't need any special shampoo or conditioner to help it stay bright but it'll help if you put a little of the dye in your coditioner bottle so it gets a little top-up every time you wash it

Can I mix a blue hair toner to my shampoo to cancel brassiness?

I want to know if I can add a blue toner to my shampoo to make my own concoction of the blue shampoo regularly used for people with orange/brass tones. I haven't yet tried the Blue Malva shampoo as some said it didn't help much with their orange hair. I thought about just toning my hair with a 10 vol developer but because it is only temporary and I don't want to over-process my hair I decided against this. I need advice from a hair colorist on whether this would work.

My hair is currently medium brown, naturally black that has been bleached with peroxide. Not damaged, very healthy and soft and I'd like to keep it that way.Can I mix a blue hair toner to my shampoo to cancel brassiness?
    if you have brown hair.

    toner wont do ANYTHING.

    =]

Will my blue hair fade if i take a shower, but not shampoo it?

I doubt it. I had purple in my hair and didn't notice it fading when i had a shower without shampoo it wasnt until after i did wash it with shampoo that it began to get lighter...and then eventually fade :(

maybe just to be safe wear a shower cap.

You can but it is best to get animal shampoo. It is more gentle on their skin and under coat of fur.Can i wash my fat russian blue cat with human shampoo or body wash like suave gillete tresseme or any other on?
Well, I use swave on my dog, and it doesn't do anything bad. I think you could use it on your cat.

What will be the action of good shampoo on litmus blue? acidic or base?

a good shampoo will range from 7.0 to 7.4 This range is considered neutral... Goes with Conditioners also..What will be the action of good shampoo on litmus blue? acidic or base?
try mane n tail shampooWhat will be the action of good shampoo on litmus blue? acidic or base?
a good shampoo contains weak acids which shall turn blue litmus solution to red IF IT IS MOIST.
Red, because I have seen shampoo bottles brag about ';low pH';. So it would be acidic.

This confirms that low pH is acidic:

My mother is 86 and her hair is turning blue dont know why she uses pantene shampoo could this be the reason?

medication? My mother is 86 and her hair is turning blue dont know why she uses pantene shampoo could this be the reason?
maybe, perhaps she should switch brands! good luck. maybe try something that doesn't have any colour to it.

    have fun! and good luck!!!
No it shouldn't turn blue because of the Pantene shampoo. It could be her medication. I would suggest two things. First, you need to detox her hair. To do this, you should use a shampoo like the swimmers use to get the chlorine out of her hair. Aveda makes a good one, as does Nexus. However this shampoo is very drying, so be sure to condition it after - probably a leave in conditioner would be best. I don't know how often she shampoos her hair, but don't use this more than once or twice a week. After the hair has been detoxed, try to get her ';shimmer lights'; shampoo. I believe it's made by Clairol and get be purchased at Sally beauty supply. Good luck
no its not the shampoo she must have done something else
some older women, buy purple or blue die to put over their grey hair. they seem to think it looks better or something. Never really understoood it myself. Have you tried asking her if she has died it?
Some brands have a bluing agent in them..Alot of older people use this..Its used for people with white hair that has turned yellowish. The bluing or violet is suppposed to tone the yellow..Its just has built up on the hair and she isnt seeing it..Usually others will notice it first....
try to go with a more lighter shampoo. something maybe like herbel essenses. and try not to blow-dry much..just towel and air dry it..or try too. and another thing could be her meds. ask her doctor..if its anything like that..with the meds.

    hope it helps.
the dye in the shampoo or conditioner can be changin her color
I've been using Pantene shampoo for nearly my entire life and I've never gotten any problems with it. It should be something else like someone pulled a prank and put dye in your shampoo but it should be washable though. How about ditching that bottle and buying a new one?

Whats a good dandruff shampoo? NOT head and Shoulders or Salsum Blue?

Looking for a good medicated shampoo. Personal expericences pleaseWhats a good dandruff shampoo? NOT head and Shoulders or Salsum Blue?
Denorex. The best stuff on the market as far as I am concerned. I have psoriasis on the scalp. But it only flares up when I am under tremendous stress. My answer has been Denorex, other family members suffer from this condition and also have found great results with this one. Extra-Strength is wonderful...your scalp will tingle with the menthol that is also in the shampoo. That will tell you it's working. Oh, it feels so good, helps alleviate the itching and eventually helps get the dandruff under control. Stay away from heavy or perfumed styling aids, they can worsen your condition.Whats a good dandruff shampoo? NOT head and Shoulders or Salsum Blue?
Try Selenium or Neutrogena dandruff shampoo.
T-Gel which is an over the counter shampoo. Any product with zinc in it is a good dandruff shampoo. Head %26amp; Shoulders does not work....ZINC is the main ingredient you should look for on a label.
I use Neutrogena. It's a milder dandruff shampoo than Selsun Blue. You're right - Head and Shoulders is not a good shampoo.

You might need something prescribed by a doctor. There's a good dandruff shampoo sold OTC at CVS that's like prescription strength, but I can't remember the name of it.
    Sulfur 8
In my experience, look for something as mentioned above with ';Coal Tar'; as an ingredient. Neutrogena T-Gel is great (T for Tar). I think Denorex is another brand, and has a higher concentration of Coal Tar than T-Gel.

Expect a little tingling sensation on your scalp, and it will likely feel oddly cool.

    Works very well.
For a good head rinse, use apple cider vinegar and water. Makes hair shiny and beautiful. Look up on the many websites about ACV and its magic. Really really works. I take internally to help my hair and nails grow. It has over 90 different vitamins and minerals. No joke!
Any shampoo that has tar in it. CVS has one called Therapy Shampoo. It's ugly brown but it works well.
It's not medicated, but it works really well. The medicated ones didn't really do much for me. So I tried Fructis sleek %26amp; shine shampoo. It's got a bunch of dif. fruit oils in it. It cleared up my dandruff, plus made my hair super shiny. On the bright side it's only $2.79 at Target, most of the time it's $1.99 if it's on sale.
In fact it is combination of two products. One is Dandrid to be applied at night as an oil is %26amp; the other is a shampoo to be applied next morning name is conaderm. Both are ketaconazole. If dadruff is severe you can take ketaconazole tabs orally also for 15 days.
Have you heard of arbonne, its AMAZING, I have had very bad dandruff all my life nothing has worked, I started using arbonne shampoo/condition and scalp treatment, it was all gone it 2 day, and hasn't came back, I can get you more info on it let me know.
Best dandruff shampoo available is Hearts Pet Dandruff Gel. It has prescription strength dandruff medicine without having to go out and get insurance and see a dermatologist. Both my wife and son used it on the advice of our neighbor. If that does not work spring for the doctor,

Which is the good anti dandruff shampoo? nizoral or selsun blue?

Seriously, Neutrogena T-Gel is the best ever. GO with that.Which is the good anti dandruff shampoo? nizoral or selsun blue?
you should try head and shoulders but if its gotta be one of these i'd say selsun blueWhich is the good anti dandruff shampoo? nizoral or selsun blue?
Nizoral is a very nice shampoo. Thick, smooth and creamy and leaves your hair nice! Smells pretty good too. Just finished off a bottle!
Nizoral is the best, but I thought the AD was prescrip. only. Also very expensive.

I use selsun on a weekly basis.
Try head and shoulders. It moisturizes really well.
i know the answer to this, i myself, have dandruff... and Senson Blue makes it look like dandruff doesn't even exist.

You know what they say... Never where Black without the Blue... Senson Blue ;)

i am having the EXACT same issue that you are, as i type this. i am headed to sally beauty supply today in search of the ';purple/blue shampoo';...i have used it in the past. i helps, but doesn't completely solve the issue. yeah, i love when everyone says ';go to a stylist'; as if everyone has $100 to blow. good luck! (;Blue frosting silver shampoo???
The ONLY way to get rid of unwanted red is to lift it out of there and shampoo is NOT going to do it. Go to a reputable stylist and have him/her determine what level of developer and what toner to use.
I gave you that advice it will not lift the colour it will just tone it down so your hair will look a honey blonde thats if it's dark orange but if it's yellow blonde then you will stay light but without the yellow. Obviously Denise does'nt know that you can't afford to go to a salon and pay big dollars to have it done. So try the shampoo and I guarantee you will be happy.

Where can i buy violet/purple/blue shampoos to get rid brassiness in hair BESIDES SALLYS.?

I'm sure that you can get it from an Ulta. However, I'm sure that there is an offbrand that they sell at Wal-Mart. It would be much cheaper and has the same quality.

Does dandruff shampoo + conditioner really work? if so, head and shoulders or selsun blue?

I used to use that but after a while it stopped working. Selsun blue is very good for that soothing menthol feeling and is better than Head and Shoulders.

If you have really bad dandruff and want to stop it cold, use T-Gel and/or Nizoral. Both of those products have literally cured me of serious dandruff.Does dandruff shampoo + conditioner really work? if so, head and shoulders or selsun blue?
I love Head And Shoulders. It works so well. i had bad dandruff and after using it. now i dont. head and shoulders has a whole bunch of products for diffrent hair types so thats a huge pluss for me. Does dandruff shampoo + conditioner really work? if so, head and shoulders or selsun blue?
It works, both are the same !

Cheap but good makeup for pale oily skin, blue eyes, and dirty blonde hair? Good shampoo for oily hair?

I'm going to Target sometime this weekend. Any suggestions? I just ran out of my make up and want to try something new because it made me look washed out. Cheap but good makeup for pale oily skin, blue eyes, and dirty blonde hair? Good shampoo for oily hair?
Covergirl Trueblend or Covergirl oil control is are really good, if you like compacts go with Covergirl Aquasmooth.

I have oily skin %26amp; it doesnt make me shiny at all.

Its a lot better than my MAC foundation.

I went to a baseball game yesterday %26amp; sweated my butt off %26amp; it didnt get all weird. I blotted %26amp; rubbed my face with tissue %26amp; it never came off which i was scared it would but it stayed on %26amp; continued covering all my flaws (acne, scars) throughtout the night.

I put a translusent powder over my tzone (forhead, nose, chin) to help control oil %26amp; shine. I uses Mac. But Physcians Formula has a good. Any brand will do, as long as its oil free.

Loreal Mineral Powder (it cups in a plastic cylinder container with the brush on top) thats the best mineral powder foundation. It made my skin look flawless, but i like liquid so i switched. I own like 15 different foundations %26amp; have tried them all through many years. Its better than Bare Minerals.

I do not reccomened maybelline matte mousse. It is cakey %26amp; NOT good for oily skin.

I know neutrogena is supposed to be for acne prone skin but it doesnt work like its pointless because it doesnt cover anything ect.

I do like mayballine mascara though. Use mascara with a small brush. Its eaiser to apply and it wont get clumpy.

Almay has an eyeshadow line blue eyes. BUT copper, browns, golds, bring blue out %26amp; make them pop.

I just use chapstick or smackers lipgloss.

You can just use a cheap eyeliner, they pretty much all work the same. Use a plum color or bown or even a pretty blue. Black is too dark.

Now for shampoo. I love herbal essence out of everything i tried, they have one for oily hair. It smells sooo good. People can smell your hair even teh next day =)

And i know you didnt ask this but makesure you wash your makeup off with a good face soap. I suggest Cetaphil. It helps oily skin but doesnt have all that other stuff that makes it super dry. Its recommended by dermatologists %26amp; TRUST ME it works.

Good Luck!!! Have a good shopping trip!!! =)Cheap but good makeup for pale oily skin, blue eyes, and dirty blonde hair? Good shampoo for oily hair?
Oily Skin, there is a neutragena (spelling) that has benzol peroxide in it so it helps with acne and keeps the oil down. Use a cotton swab as your applier instead of the little puff they give you. That way the germs aren't spread back on to your face over and over again.

Oily hair, Dove shampoo (any kind) is always good. It keeps your hair moisturized and clean. My personal favorite is the green one ';dove go fresh.'; Head 'n' Shoulders is also a good alternative.
some good shampoo is Treseme but make sure its for all hair types, it works great when i have oily hair. A good cleanser for oily skin is clean and clear shine control with bursting beads because it keeps you from being shiny
Revlon colorstay the loose powder one. i use it and im pale. it works. then use the clarifying shampoo from suave with a herbal essences conditioner at the tips. scented too. =]
Those with oily skin should use powder foundations, or at least finishing powder over oil free liquid foundation. Just make sure you look for makeup that is oil free. A good shampoo for oily hair would be Head 'N Shoulders.
    cover girl, maybelline

    tresame moisture shampoo and conditioner

I don't know the answer to the 1st question but I have oily hair and I can use Classic Clean Pantene or Head%26amp;Shoulders for oily hair

Good shampoo for oily hair would be pert or any type of shampoo that has light conditioning

  • Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo not working. What next?

I recently started getting dandruff. The Selsun Blue shampoo (has 3% Salicylic Acid) I am using isn't working. It cleans out the dandruff and stops the itch but I can still tell my scalp is pretty dry and flaky. I'm am curious if the salicylic is causing my skin become extremely dry.

My skin is pretty sensitive so I need something that isn't going to chemically irritate my skin. I was considering buying Head and Shoulders (has selenium sulfide) or maybe something with zinc pyrithione. Will more 'natural' dandruff shampoos like from Body Shop/Kiehl's be less harsh on my scalp? Any suggestions?Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo not working. What next?
    Hi there,

Selsun blue not working? that is a little strange but try the following, it is a natural approah to dandruff and dry scalp:

    What you need:

    1. The NATURAL Tea Tree Oil

    2. Motions dandruff shampoo

    3. Any Herbal anti-dandruff shampoo

    4. The Natural Vitamin E Oil

    This is what to do;

    1. Rub the Tea Tree Oil in your head(all over where the dandruff is)

    2. Leave it in for 10-15 minutes

    3. Wet the hair

    4. Wash the hair with any anti Herbal dandruff shampoo, about 3 times.

    4. Wash out the shampoo and dry the hair.

    5. After you have dried the hair grease it with Vitamin E Oil all over.

Doing this for atleast 2 times a week will help you.

    Try it it works!

=]Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo not working. What next?
Plain old Tar Gel shampoo (T-Gel or similar generic) will generally work well.

If you want to try a more natural route, Tea Tree Oil works very well. You can either apply it directly to your scalp before you wash your hair or buy shampoo with tea tree oil in it. I have found that direct application works better but it does burn a bit sometimes - though the irritation will go away.
Hi, i have had a similar problem with dandruff. I tried using Head and Shoulders originally and it made the dandruff worse so I switched to the cheapo Walmart anti-dandruff shampoo and it worked for me. My advice is to try the H%26amp;S, it may work. Try different brands, as not all anti-dandruff

shampoos are the same. Good luck.

I was just wondering with blue shampoo toners, do you have to

mix the shampoo with another kind?Light Blue Shade Shampoo?
no you dont need to do that if its a shampoo(there are toneres that say shampoo %26amp; just deposit color or nuetralize color). if its a toner thats like color so you would just apply it, wait the proper time %26amp; then shampoo out

Does putting blue hair dye into shampoo help?

hey some help? i have recently dyed strips of my hair blue and now after 3 washes its half way gone, will putting blue hair dye in my shampoo restore the color? and if it wont can someone please tell me how i can keep the color in. thanks in advance

btw this is my friend's account 0.0Does putting blue hair dye into shampoo help?
Only wash your hair with conditioner. Don't use shampoo. Buy Aveda, which contains no sulfates. This is what strips your hair of oils and color. You can always ask the people at the beauty supply to show you a product called a clear cellophane, you put over your hair after a day or so.. of dying blue. This will keep it a bit longer. I liked blue, found it hard to keep in my hair too, but this might help a little. Good luck!Does putting blue hair dye into shampoo help?
It might eventually dye all your hair blue. You will just have to deal with it fading in time and re-do it every so often.
Eh!!! I hate that!!! I've done it with red.....

Putting it in your shampoo will help the color last a little longer. Are you using color-safe shampoo and conditioner??? That helps as well.

Don't put too much in your shampoo or you'll have blue hands. Also, try to stay out of the sun.. it's a drag because it makes your hair look kick *** but it will make it fade faster.

    Hope that helps.
hey - i can't say for sure, but i really don't think it's a good idea to put the dye in shampoo. you should just get color safe shampoo. fructose garnier shampoos have a great color care shampoo/conditioning combo. i believe that the chemicals in the hair dye may or may not counteract the chemicals in the shampoo, making the shampoo not as good. it could also hurt your hair. in my advice - dye it and use the fructose garnier stuff - that company also has really great hair dye - quality products. good luck!

Color safe Shampoo and Conditioner for blue hair?

So, I just (bleached) and dyed a good chunk of my hair a pretty vibrant blue and my stylist said that my shampoo now (Tea Tree) will strip the color. She didn't tell me what a good shampoo would be. So, what is a good color safe shampoo and conditioner that will keep and help my color to stay? If it's under $15 that's even better!Color safe Shampoo and Conditioner for blue hair?
Try redken's color conserve. Also try to wash your hair in the coolest water possible. Hot water opens the cuticle on your hair shaft wich will allow the color molecules to wash away. The cooler the water the better.Color safe Shampoo and Conditioner for blue hair?
Garnier Fructice for color treated hair kept my hair blue for a long time.

Here are some tips for making you color last long:

    1. When dying your hair leave the dye in twice as long(or longer) as the instructon say.

    2. Wash you hair with cold water instead of warm water.

    3. Don't wash your hair with shampoo every day, insead just condition it.

    4. Adding some Manic Panic to your conditioner will replenish your color everytime you wash it.

    5. Use shampoos and conditioners that are made for color treated hair.

    6. Avoid being in the sun for long periods of time.

Does using a blue colored shampoo really prevent..?

brassy tones in recently blonde dyed hair?Does using a blue colored shampoo really prevent..?
no....Does using a blue colored shampoo really prevent..?
Yes it does. It's helps keep the blonde staying on your hair longer than normal shampoo for colored hair. People usually call the shampoo BLUE or PURPLE, but it doesn't mean that all blue colored shampoo does the job. It's just the product name.
I would venture to say no.

the color will fade no matter what. but if you want to buy only blue shampoo to prevent that, more power to you,
    Lol yes

but not just any blue colored shampoo

The name of the shampoo is actually blue shampoo. Its great for keeping your hair from turning green from pool water too!
I know that old people use a blue shampoo called ';Shimmer Lights'; to prevent their white/grey hair from turning yellow.
I don't know but I have a rock that can ward off panda bears if you want to buy it.

I live in wisconsin so I know it's working really well. ;)
    Blue is the colour.

The chemicals are what you should be paying attention to.
Use a shampoo for color treated hair.
Head and Shoulders is blue shampoo - doubt it affects hair color.
no. any shampoo can be colored blue. there are specific shampoos for your need :)
No. It depends on what your type of shampoo and what type of hair you have.
I use a Purple toner. But it's toner not just a purple shampoo!
It does. Just don't go swimming and wash your hair every other day.
    yes it does

How long does it take for Selsun Blue Shampoo to work?

I've been using Selsun Blue Medicated Shampoo to rid my dandruff for about a month now. What I usually do is rub it into my scalp, rinse, then I use Aussie Moist shampoo and conditioner because I can't stand the smell of the Selsun. I do this every other day or every three, depending on when I want to get my hair wet :-) Is the fact that I'm using another shampoo canceling out the Selsun? Is there any other way I can rid my dandruff? Please help. It's getting really annoying. How long does it take for Selsun Blue Shampoo to work?
For our kids (no longer teens), what made all the difference with dandruff was not what shampoo they used but a shampoo brush which cost $1.29 at Walgreens.

Lather your scalp and hair, then gently scrape the shampoo brush's bristles against the scalp, loosening any dandruff. Use the shampoo brush, again at the scalp, as you rinse to get rid of all the loose flakes.

    This worked with any shampoo.

See a shampoo brush at http://www.cachebeauty.com/blue_shampoo_鈥?/a> or http://img.smallflower.com/i/16545.jpg ... so you know what to look for.How long does it take for Selsun Blue Shampoo to work?
You could try ';Head %26amp; Shoulders'; shampoo, which i hear is also another good dandruff shampoo like selsun blue is suppost to be.

or you could shampoo your hair longer, shampoo your scalp more..and also try the selsun blue conditioner, leave that in your hair for a few minutes, THEN use your other conditioner to get rid of the smell or whatever.

    good luck.

Is it healthy/safe to mix shampoo? (Selsun Blue and Garnier Fructis conditioner)?

It is healthy/safe to use Selsun Blue as a shampoo, and Garnier Fructis Conditioner? Also, is it okay to go:

One day: Selsun Blue / Garnier Fructis Conditioner

Next day: Garnier Shampoo / Garnier Conditioner

And keep on switching? Is it healthy/safe to mix shampoo? (Selsun Blue and Garnier Fructis conditioner)?
Of course it's safe to mix shampoos and conditioners.

I've found my hair is actually healthier when I mix up my shampoos and conditioners. Use one combo of shampoos/conditioners for a couple days, then switch. Is it healthy/safe to mix shampoo? (Selsun Blue and Garnier Fructis conditioner)?
It is safe to mix shampoo with another conditioner. But you hair will come out smelling 2 different things, but it's all right. You can keep on switching if you want too. It's all up to you really.
    Yes, totally safe.
Of course! I do the same thing! I mix mane 'n tail and gliss kur. Since the mane shampoo and conditioner left my hair really thick feeling and coarse I mixed it with gliss kur (shampoo=total repair, conditioner=liquid silk) which leaves my so silky but makes my already thin hair flat. The result? Thick feeling hair that looked and felt like silk! (all I did was put a doulop of each shampoo and a doulop of each conditioner and put them in!) So unless you are using a shampoo for medical reasons (it would have chemicals) it will be ok.

What is a good over-the-counter shampoo for dry scalp? (besides Selsun Blue and Head and Shoulders...)?

neutrogena, check it out! Much better than those other brands. It costs a little more but a bottle lasts forever

  • Is Selsun Blue shampoo safe to use on an eight week old kitten with ringworm?

Don't use it--there's a far cheaper/easier alternative. (And shampooing can actually spread the spores even further on the cat when you wash and dry him!).

The chemical in the vet's ringworm medication is miconazole, and it's in either a 2% or 4% solution. You can pick up a tube of this at ANY pharmacy, it's over the counter medication and does not require a prescription. The tube should cost about $8 (the same tube from the vets is $21). The generic name is Miconazole. The brand name is Monistat 3 (no lie, it's the same thing). You can check with the vet by phone about the miconazole, and you can ask the pharmacist too--they'll both confirm this. Humans who do Judo, Karate, any wrestling on mats, all them come to the pharmacist regularly with 'ringworm' and need over the counter meds. Miconazole is what's recommended.

I used this to treat our cat who had ringworm during the summer. It took him 4 weeks to be fully cured. Do NOT rub at the area, that spreads the spores! Just dab a little on and work it gently along the edge line of the spot. I put on some of the cream 2 to 3 times a day with our cat. I saw hair growth by day 8.

Wash your hands afterwards, the soap and water kills any spores on you before they get established. You should not have a problem with it.Is Selsun Blue shampoo safe to use on an eight week old kitten with ringworm?
I've been a cat owner for over 40 years....Selsun Blue will not only NOT cure ringworm, since it's a medicated shampoo for HUMANS you can cause a serious re-action if you apply it to a kitten...the chemicals are harsh for a kitten's skin %26amp; coat.

Find the money or find a shelter...your ownly options....and you can contract ringworm yourself from handling the cat, you know.....Is Selsun Blue shampoo safe to use on an eight week old kitten with ringworm?
NO! Apparently you don't know that ringworm is FUNGUS and needs special treatment by a Vet. Selsun Blue shampoo can cause more skin problems for the poor kitty. Take it to the Vet.
Ok, 1. This is the dogs section, there is a cat section. 2. No! Human shampoo should never be used on animals, its to rough on their skin. Use Johnsons baby shampoo, or cat shampoo.

    Dr. Dog
Nope different pH not safe spend a lil and buy appropriate shampoo.
You should take it to the vet and get it medication.
    What?!
    no it is not safe.

Why would you use it anyways? Shampoo is not going to cure ringworm.. you need an antifungal cream from the vet.

    ADDED

Selsun blue DOES NOT work on ringworm.. not in humans or cats. I wouldnt trust any breeder who suggests using any type of medicated shampoo. Its best to let a VET suggest if the animal needs a medicated shampoo or not. It requires an antifungal cream, not a shampoo that is intended for dandruff in humans!

If you cant afford a vet bill, then find someone who can.. if you let this go too long, you will be needing to find a way to afford proper treatment for you and other household members, as ringworm is very contagious.

'Purple/Blue' shampoo for bleached blonde hair?

Okay, i've been browsing around for questions related to my own. I have bleached hair, but I have just a few tints of yellow in it. I bleached it again last night and came out with a nice platinum color, but with yellow!

I've actually went from brown to blonde the last two months, and my hairdresser says my hair is still healthy even with the bleaching and coloring.

But when I look around on yahoo answers about taking out the yellow tint in my hair, it says I need a purple shampoo?

I don't get it, do i go to the beauty supply store and say ';I NEED PURPLE SHAMPOO?'; or is there a specific brand or a more official name than the actual color.

Also, suggest any brands for this?'Purple/Blue' shampoo for bleached blonde hair?
Go to the beauty supply store and get ';Shimmer Lights'; shampoo. It comes in a purple bottle and is purple. What it does is it tones down the brassiness in your hair and will help it stay blonde. Works great. Only use it every other shampoo though.. or even less often if you don't need it that much.'Purple/Blue' shampoo for bleached blonde hair?
the brand ';Quantum'; makes a really good purple toning shampoo for dark to white blonde hair.

    Purple/blue shampoo for white hair?

    Hi.

I have bleached white blonde hair (think Marilyn Monroe shade) and I love it although it does get prone to yellowness sometimes.

I use the purple Clynol ID shampoo I bought from my hair salon everytime I wash my hair and this is supposed to counteract the yellow and it does an okay job. (Its specially

    formulated for platinum shades).

I also use the cool blonde conditioner by Goldwell and occasionally instead of the Goldwell I use a purple conditioner by Rusk.

Both are also specialised for my hair shade and to get rid of yellow.

I think they all do a not bad job..but as my shampoo is nearly empty I'm going to Sallys this weekend to buy a new one and I thought I might change the brand (I like using lots of different

brands untill I find one I really love!)

    Any recommendations?

AND FINALLLLLLLY how often do ice-white ladies use their purple shampoo?Purple/blue shampoo for white hair?
Ah, I actually work at Sally's. Pick up the generic we carry of the Clairol Shimmering Lights Shampoo. It's in an ugly black and white bottle with ';GVP'; on it. You get more for the buck and it works equally as well as the original. These types of shampoos are used one to two times a week, not everyday. Good luck!Purple/blue shampoo for white hair?
Aveda Blue Malva shampoo %26amp; conditioner is great. I have highlights and it totally takes out any brassiness. Lovely smell too. I use it every 3 washes.
Generic brand makes a good one and you can find it at Sally's. It works wonders and it's cheaper than the others.
that is the one i have always used im not white blonde but sometimes the roots go yellow and yes it does work i always go to sally`s but never looked for another product they do advice you what to use my ex daughter in law had hers white blonde and she used it twice a week if you want to cut time doing this and to make it last longer get a toner they last weeks and work the same

good luck and all the best
sallys has shimmering lights shampoos and conditioners. they work very well. i only use them everyother day though. in between i use biotera shampoos and conditioners. you should be careful of the purple shampoos because if your hair is really pourous it can grab the purple.

ice white ladies probably use them a couple of times a week and tone in between colorings.
TO BE HONEST~ I WOULD REALLY RECCOMMEND the Purple Color Shampoo BY Paul Mitchell...it is a professional product AND they are a higher grade OVERALL, the chemicals will work better than any OVER THE COUNTER! really! lol

the bottle is not too pricey...i think like 10 or 15 bucks??

    goodluck ;)
yeah, i work at sally's too and have blonde highlights. i agree with the other person, get shimmer lights for blonde and silver hair. and i second the opinion on the generic version of it--it is cheaper and does work exactly the same. even my hair dresser said purple colored shampoos are best for us, and she's not lying. i noticed a difference after just one wash--my highlights looked nice and bright, but i have one strand that got really really light now .. so i'm advising that you don't use it too often. a couple times a week should be good. :] i sold it to a bunch of customers and they love it, too, haha.
Use Shimmer Lights. It's in a big purple bottle. I used that when I used to be platinum blonde and loved it! I just used it whenever my hair started to get yellow and brassy. Usually about once a week, more if my hair was yellow.

Best shampoo for a blue dane?

My dane had achene and now has dry skin. I use Bio Groom flea and anti itch. I have started to use oxy med by tropic-clean for the dry skin. But nothing lasts more than 2 weeks. I do have my own shop and can bathe her but she has to ride to get there and she is not a good car rider. So if you have used something that helped better and longer please do tell.Best shampoo for a blue dane?
I had a blue dane also!! Blues have the color dilution issue unfortunately %26amp; I was lucky with mine in she came from a great breeder so her skin wasn't bad compared to most. I would suggest using first benzoyl peroxide on the bad spots only %26amp; let sit 5-10min. Then follow up with a chlorhexidine to spots %26amp; depending on brand allover. I use Soothe brand from Show Season which is 3% %26amp; oatmeal so it helps with any drying issues. The benzoyl will flush out the follicles then the other is anitbacterial.

We have more problems with her skin at my 1st home but when we moved about 12 mi away her skin cleared up %26amp; hardly had any problems again. I think it was the nearby pollution from very busy expressway at 1st home. Good luck %26amp; this should help keep the areas cleaner but they are always going to smell in time.Best shampoo for a blue dane?
I order my shampoos from Doctors Foster and Smith (they have really good prices on stuff), my older had dry skin and still gets it from time to time but I started using oatmeal shampoo from there with an actual doggy conditioner and it helped a lot. Another thing you can do is they sell skin and coat vitamins. My grandfather puts a tsp of veggie oil in his dogs food and her coat is so soft and no flakes.
One problem is over bathing..In your quest to try to stop the skin issue you may just be making it worse.

Another problem could be the food you are feeding..if feeding one of the low quality store brand foods it is likely a major factor in the skin problem.

I would recommend that you get her skin checked out by your vet..many people mistakenly think that their dog has dry skin and they bathe and treat on their own only to learn that the dog had some other issue going on.

Blue Danes are more prone to skin issues especially those that aren't well bred.
Try Melalucca oil shampoo, I use Natures Choice you can order on line. I also use a mixture of tea tree oil in water. Cures my Rotts problems, all my grooming customers love the results

Plus fish oil in her food

    Good Luck

i actually use bath and body works body washes on my dog they keep him clean itch free and smelling good.

just make sure u rinse him really good.

i even use conditioner for humans on him sometimes.

    like pantine or finesse.

    works great.

    good luck
Wash the dog using and MILD dog shampoo, and rinse him thoroughly ... then carefully pour olive oil all over his coat and brush it in. Don't let it 'drip' (you can't wrap a full grown Dane into a towel for two hours) but if you do this 'conditioning' after every shampoo (no more often than once every two weeks when you are doing this 'treatment'), his skin should start looking better. You also should start making him 'bone soup' ... boil raw beef bones for two hours (you want as much of the 'center' of the bones to melt out as possible) and add the following: dried barley, carrots, sliced celery, bits of leftover meat and as much 'meat fat' as you can find. Give the dog a full two cups at first, then give him a cup every evening over his dry or canned food. Both the acne and the dry skin are because his food doesn't hav enough 'fat and natural oils' in it. Keeping him looking really good takes time ... you will have to learn that the more 'natural meat fat' you give him over time will help him to look better, and meanwhile the olive oil (which he'll 'lick off' for a 'double duty bath' effect) should make him feel more comfortable. Also, if you live in an area where the weather gets colder than 50 degrees, you'll need to buy him a HEAVY sweater or coat. I know he's a big dog, so you may think he doesn't need a coat, but the Great Dane is more like a chihuahua than one of the dogs with a heavier coat, and he needs 'protection' for his skin and short coat in 'cool' weather, and even more protection if it gets really cold out.

    Selsun Blue Shampoo Troubles!?

I used selsun blue shampoo to help me dry, flaky scalp, and it worked great for about a week! But now, I just took a shower and waited for my hair to dry, and now it's flaky and dry again. Why did it work then and not now and what am I doing wrong!? How do I fix it and make it work again?Selsun Blue Shampoo Troubles!?
Buy two different types of Selsun Blue and switch every week. Your hair tends to get used to the shampoo, and when you switch every week it'll prevent your hair from going flat, becoming dry, or flaky.Selsun Blue Shampoo Troubles!?
try another shampoo to find which one works...when in doubt go to a dermatologist.

Can i wash my fat russian blue cat with human shampoo or body wash like suave gillete tresseme or any other on?

NO! Cats and dogs should only be bathed in soap free formulas designed for animals. Make sure to use cool to lukewarm water only (anything warmer drys out the skin) rinse well, and don't wet the face- just wipe if off with a damp cloth. Can i wash my fat russian blue cat with human shampoo or body wash like suave gillete tresseme or any other on?
If you can't afford expensive cat shampoo, the best thing to do is use human conditioner. It is still not the greatest thing to use, but if you wash your cat more than two weeks apart, it should be okay. If he/she starts to get flaky skin or rashes, stop using it and get the cat shampoo. Can i wash my fat russian blue cat with human shampoo or body wash like suave gillete tresseme or any other on?
pet shampoo. human shampoo has a different ph balance that could irritate the cat's skin
No use the cat shampoos, you know, the ones that say CAT on them.

What is the best way to remove stain from the tub? My shampoo bottle left this blue stain on the tub........?

I have tried Simple Green and 409 so far.....What is the best way to remove stain from the tub? My shampoo bottle left this blue stain on the tub........?
Clorox Bleach...pure and directly on the stain....

Leave it a few minutes (if it is not on a flat level...put the bleach on an old rag and let it rest on top of the stain).

This should work. Be careful with your clothes the bleach will also discolor whatever you are wearing if it splashes. What is the best way to remove stain from the tub? My shampoo bottle left this blue stain on the tub........?
    Bleach. Then maybe auto polish.
If bleach does not work, try a product called Bon Ami. It is a powder that is guaranteed not to scratch the surface. I use it to clean my shower/tub and it works wonders. A little elbow grease with Bon Ami takes any stain out!

(Good luck trying to find Bon Ami...it's hard to find anymore!)
    try Mr Clean Magic Eraser
Try mixing water and bleach and scrubbing with that.

if you want to stick with herbal essences, which is fine, then get a good leave in conditioner. you can try the 3 minute masque from garnier fructis (green jar) just rub it onto the streak, let it sit for 3 minutes then rinse :]

Will mixing Selsun Blue Shampoo with sunscreen prevent sunspots?

It probably would but it's blue green so I don't think you want to mix it and wear it, plus it could make you tan streaky. If you can find some of the old regular blue kind you can put it on and leave it overnight (2 applications should do the trick) or turn the bottle upside down and let it settle and then pat the orangey gold colored substance that has settled in the cap on the sunspots. It's the selenium sulfide in the Selsun Blue that makes it work. I was prescribed that for sunspots when I was a teenager and the Dr. told me Selsun Blue would work but that was about 15 years ago. Will mixing Selsun Blue Shampoo with sunscreen prevent sunspots?
I doubt it. But a good sunscreen would. Will mixing Selsun Blue Shampoo with sunscreen prevent sunspots?

Well if you were looking in the actual newspaper, per se, its not going to be in the print and pages somewhere... its going to be in the circular Walgreens puts in the Sunday paper (mixed in with the other 30 sale ads they toss in the Sunday paper). Also, if you were looking in their circular please keep in mind ads in the middle of the sunday paper for large chains like Walgreens, Target, etc... are always regional. Likewise, someone could of taken it prior to you buying it... always a possibility as I have seen people do this at the gas station by my house... the open the paper, look at the sale ads, then take one of the inserts if they want it.Sunday newspaper, selsun blue shampoo coupon?
No -your not crazy I was just saying the same thing as I looked at the walgreens ad- My husband uses this product and he needed more so I said good it's on sale at walgreens and when I saw look in sunday coupons I did and nothing-so I decided to type in selsun blue coupon and up came your question-however I found out if you contact selsun blue they will mail you one if you let them know the deal.

  • Which is good shampoo selsun blue or garnier fructis?

Garnier Fructis is the best!! It helps fight frizz.Which is good shampoo selsun blue or garnier fructis?
Never tried selsun blue, but I give 2 thumbs up for garnier fructis, although it doesn't feel as good as say, pantene when applying it (doesn't lather much), it feels great after.Which is good shampoo selsun blue or garnier fructis?
I prefer garnier fructis myself. I've used both and at least garnier smells really nice.
selsum blue...garnier fructis has acid from fruit in it which over time strips your hair shaft and fries it. it is kinda like acid eroding at your skin, but in this case its your hair
Garnier is more of a conditioning selsun blu works as a dandruf rider
It all depends on what you need it for.

Selsun Blue is really for people with dry, itchy scalps. Garnier fructis has various shampoos that coincide with the type of hair you have i.e. curly, straight, permed/colored...They also have the finishing products to go with them like moisturizers, mousse, ans so on...

My friend bleached his hair blond & used a shampoo called Wellapon for black hair and it turned his hair blue?

His hair wasn't bleached recently, and it turned a blue-ish tint to be exact. Is there a way to get it out?

The shampoo is from Costa Rica and is exactly called ';Wellapon para cabello *****';.My friend bleached his hair blond %26amp; used a shampoo called Wellapon for black hair and it turned his hair blue?
wtfMy friend bleached his hair blond %26amp; used a shampoo called Wellapon for black hair and it turned his hair blue?
It's name does not infer any reference to blue, just hair, but I would try some lemon juice extract or juice from a couple of lemons and put it in his shampoo. Just make sure he keeps his eyes closed while washing...but I really do not have to tell you that.
Most colored shampoos have a tint to them, which may be why his hair is bluish. If he doesn't like it that way, he can rebleach it, or use lemon, like someone stated. Next time, tell him to use the right shampoo. :)

    What is ';purple/blue shampoo';?

    Hey everyone,

I recently got light blonde chunks in my chocolate brown hair, and I've been looking for ways to keep it light blonde (and not the yellowish type of blonde).

I hear a lot of stuff about ';purple'; and ';blue shampoo';, which apparently helps.. but what is it exactly??

I've never heard about it before! What is ';purple/blue shampoo';?
Okay, i have this shampoo. What it is, is its shampoo that because of the purple tint, it keeps blonde hair from going brassy, and it keeps colour in. It really does work, i have dirty blonde hair, and it normally goes brassy, but this shampoo holds the colour, and still have blonde hair. What is ';purple/blue shampoo';?
It has a highlight in it so you can keep your color light. You can buy a small amount at Sallys Beauty Supply for like 2 bucks and mix it in with your favorite shampoo.
    SELSUN BLUE
It's just shampoo but it deposits a litltle bit of purple pigment in your hair to keep it from turning yellow. I use it and I like it but I mix it with regular shampoo because it's too strong by itself.

Is it okay to use selsun blue shampoo while im pregnant?

hello everyone i had a question is it okay to use selsun blue shampoo while being pregnant i wasent to sure i know its a very strong shampoo so i wasent sure if its okay to use i love taking care of my hair so i use it all the time but i wasent sure if its okay to use now that im pregnant thank u all have a beautiful dayIs it okay to use selsun blue shampoo while im pregnant?
    Read the back. On the shampoos that you are NOT supposed to use, it will say it on the back. I use Nizoral for dandruff, and it said on the back ';ask your dr before use while pregnant or breastfeeding.';

I asked my dr., and he said to only use it two or three times a week, because the chemicals can be absorbed into the bloodstream through the skin.

I don't know about selsun blue though, so you would have to read the back. If there is no warning, then it is fine.

:-)Is it okay to use selsun blue shampoo while im pregnant?
To my knowledge a shampoo shouldn't have any affect on you or the baby at all... I've heard that hair coloring and things like that should be avoided but not shampoo.

Does horse shampoo make your hair grow faster? I was also told it makes your hair stink and turn blue, true?

I recently had a bad hair cutting accident. So im looking to make my hair grow faster. Is it true that horse shampoo makes it grow faster? I was also told that it makes your hair smell and turn blue? All the web sites I looked into said nothing about that, they just said to watch one's diet. Any advice?Does horse shampoo make your hair grow faster? I was also told it makes your hair stink and turn blue, true?
I used to use Mane %26amp; Tail shampoo and conditioner- that's for horses, dogs, and people. It comes in a rather big bottle, so it lasts for a long time.

The shampoo makes your hair thicker and more shiny, but I'm not so sure about the faster. If you want your hair to grow faster, try massaging your scalp while you shampoo. Massage it long, and kind of hard, though not enough to make it hurt. This brings more blood to your scalp, and ';wakes up'; the hair follicles. I'm not sure if that's what did it, but my hair grows a lot faster now.

No, horse shampoo doesn't turn your hair blue. Think about it; there are white, flea-bitten, grey, palomino, all sorts of light colored horses, and they walk away from a bath still their normal color. I just don't recommend the really heavy-duty shampoos.

Anyway, if you use the Main %26amp; Tail shampoo/ conditioner, I think one's yellow and the other's white. No coloration issues there. It works really well, and smells pretty good. You can find it at pretty much any grocery store; I used to get mine at Albertsons. CVS or Rite aide might have it, though. It's also not too expensive.

I hope that this helps!Does horse shampoo make your hair grow faster? I was also told it makes your hair stink and turn blue, true?
where can i buy this shampoo from Report Abuse

horse shampoo will not make your hair turn blue. But I am afraid it will not make your hair grow faster either. The reason for this is most ingredients in shampoo cannot be absorbed by the scalp or the hair follicle. I would stick to a healthy diet. Get plenty of protein, which is what your hair is made from. eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and take some biotin and omega 3.
I actually have Mane and Tail shampoo. It doesn't smell great, and no it won't turn your hair blue. I got it to grow my hair longer. My hair is getting a lot longer than it was but I'm not sure if it's from the shampoo or not.
I don't know if it makes it grow faster, but it makes it a lot smother and stronger. No, it does not turn it blue and make it stink.
Try Main and Tale..it's trusted for humans and for your hair to grow faster. You can buy it at a drugstore, maybe a local grocery store, Sally's Beauty Supply, or a horse store..

    Good Luck!
    Yeah,

i dont know if it makes it grow i just no it makes it thicker,

    and it stinks really bad.

idk about the blue thing though.
Horse shampoo will no tmake your hair grow faster. Myth.

It is made for horses so what do you think about the smell? It won't turn it blue.

Is It True That A BLue Shampoo And Conditioner tone down blonde hair?I Carnt See how without It Being A Toner?

Yes, it's true, ask your stylist or a professional to help you find what you need, it is also good for those who wear their hair grey.Is It True That A BLue Shampoo And Conditioner tone down blonde hair?I Carnt See how without It Being A Toner?
Aveda do a shampoo %26amp; conditioner called Blue Malva. it is a mauvey colour but not sure that it would actually dye your hair. However it is excellent for stopping highlights going brassy. Not cheap - around 拢15 a bottle but you don't need much.Is It True That A BLue Shampoo And Conditioner tone down blonde hair?I Carnt See how without It Being A Toner?
Not human but i know that for grey/white horses it brightens the colour if you use a specially formulated shampoo that is blue so maybe someone has mistakenly told you it does the wrong thing??!!
If you have any yellow in your blond using a violet shampoo really does help to cancel out the yellow. Just make sure you don't use it so much that your hair takes on a violet tinge :)
It dosent tone down blond, it tones down the brassy undertone that dyed blonde have takes on due to having to much sun, or to many minerals in the water you wash your hair with.
Color enhancing and depositing shampoos are meant to be used to refresh a tone or counteract an unwanted tone in hair. Blue should not be used for blond hair. A blue base would be found in a much darker tone- it counteracts orange. Some lazy hairdressers or people who don't know how to work with toners and glazes properly rely on shampoo to do the job. For best results the appropriate toner/ glaze should be applied and then for routine home care the proper shampoo and cond recommended. If the hair is very porous and the blue based shampoo has a lot of pigment that could grab in the hair. Bummer.

  • Is there a certain type of shampoo that I can use that will keep a blue/purple coloring in my hair longer?

I have been looking around for a good color keeping shampoo/ conditioner with a blue or purple coloring but haven't had any luck yet. I recently colored my hair a deep blue/purple and want to keep it that way as long as possible! Is there a certain type of shampoo that I can use that will keep a blue/purple coloring in my hair longer?
i don't know any shampoo's or conditioner's that can do that, but don't use hot water when you are washing your hair because then the hot water will fade the color out faster. Is there a certain type of shampoo that I can use that will keep a blue/purple coloring in my hair longer?
Colourcare products are the only products I can see that will help prevent fading. The sunlight will bleach some of the colour out as well as the washing.

There are products that will enhance certain colours blond, brown and red tones in shampoo and conditioner. There may be a black version but whether this would give a blackover on your current shade is uncertain. Have you tried Goth sites or theatre products suppliers? There are styling products in the colours you mention so it may be a case of touching in the fading colour with those.
try biolage. I won't make your hair oily and it will keep the length. don't wash your hair in hot water either.
if you dyed your hair with like a 'crazy color' 'manic panic' style dye then there is no shampoo that will keep the color as it is only semi permanent dye. these dyes also act as a conditioner so i suggest when you wash your hair just add a bit of the color to your shampoo and leave on. this will stop the fading.(this is what i used to do)

but if you used a permanent dye, from a salon or out of a box then there is nothing you can do to keep the color as vibrant until your next due to dye your hair. you will just have to buy some color care products.

Will a shampoo with Blue in it (to tone down brassiness) impact future color I get?

I am using Aveda Blue Malva Shampoo to get rid of the brassiness in my hair. I have brown hair with highlights. Soon, I would like to color my hair darker (just a medium brown). I will go to a salon - - do I need to tell them about using this shampoo? Will it impact how the color turns out? Should I not be using that shampoo if I want a permanent color over highlights? Thanks. Will a shampoo with Blue in it (to tone down brassiness) impact future color I get?
Not at all. Since the dye inside your shampoo does not stain on your hair, it goes with rinse, it WON'T impact your hair color. You can continue to use that shampoo.

Coloring the hair is a more complicated process. Hair dyes split the hair fibers by ammonia and then deliver the dye into it. Then the conditioners heal the fibers. Will a shampoo with Blue in it (to tone down brassiness) impact future color I get?
this should not affect your future expected coloring. If i were you i would go to Sally's beauty supply to ask for the de-brasser. Any of them should be good but they will be purple in coloring, usually very dark.

Good Luck, Remember you are beautiful even wit green spiky hair because the soul that holds that head up should always be happy.

    Take care
Apsolute no. You can dye your hair in any color you want. Be sure

How do I get the smell from the Shampoo/Conditioner, Selsun Blue, off of my skin and hair?

I used to go to a barber that OBVIOUSLY didn't sterilize his clippers because I would always get an itchy scalp for a week or so, after going to him. Anyways, I don't go to his shop any more, but had started to use the Shampoo/Conditioner Selsun Blue to assist with my itchy scalp. Now that I don't go to him any more, I have no need for it, but ever since I stopped using Selsun Blue, I have retained a DISGUSTING sulfur odor radiating from my hair and skin!!! I've scrubbed my hair and skin with Dove body wash, Dove bar soap, and even Pantene shampoo, and it still remains. HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS HORRIBLE STENCH?!?!?!? PLEASE HELP ANYONE!!!!How do I get the smell from the Shampoo/Conditioner, Selsun Blue, off of my skin and hair?
go to a shop and get a scented oil that you like. bathe in water but add some of that. after wash it off and see how it works. thats all i can think of. good luck!!!!How do I get the smell from the Shampoo/Conditioner, Selsun Blue, off of my skin and hair?
Mix a bit of liquid Tide and water (very little Tide). Don't get it in your eyes. The odor will disappear with time anyway.
I know what you mean about the disgusting odor. I hate that shampoo. Try using a clarifying shampoo. Or you you could try rinsing your hair with a little apple cider vinegar. I use it to clarify my hair once in awhile. You just need to dilute it with a little water and use as it as a rinse after you shampoo your hair. Don't worry the vinegar smell will go away. Hope I helped you.
I'd sue the old barbar. bastard. this is such an odd situation...i'd call a HAIR PROFESSIONAL and find out PRONTO. If that doesn't work, see a dermotologist. It might not be the shampoo...could be a more serious problem.
use another smell of shampoo and conditioner.
If jumping in the pool is an option I would try that. The chlorine seems to cancel out all kinds of smells especially bad cologne. Good Luck!
Try a clarifying shampoo and conditioner. You probably have some of the Selsun Blue residue still in your hair. This will help get it out. I know a lot of company's make this type of shampoo, but I use Suave. Hope it works!

  • Why is dandruff shampoo always blue?

I used it a couple years ago and I realized that dandruff shampoo is always blue. Why?Why is dandruff shampoo always blue?
Not necessary. As a matter of fact my brother uses Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo for his dandruff and its not blue. Why is dandruff shampoo always blue?
    It's medicated.
That's a good cute question. Maybe because when you wear black ';even a little dandruff shows'; and they want to appeal to both men and women so they use a blue bottle.
The stuff I use now is not blue (Equate).
    cause its pretty, lol
Dandruff shampoo is not always blue. It just depends.

Most of the time it has to do with the additives etc. They turn the shampoo and odd colour.. blue is more attractive.

Selsun blue- Can Selsun blue medicated shampoo help wtih skin discoloraration?

I'm African American and used a skin care product that was to harsh for my skin and now it is lighter in some areas. This happened about 6 years ago but I was wondering is it to late to doing anything about it? I was reading that Selsun blue may help. I'm not yet 30 but I wanted to know has to much time passed to seek treatment? Also if I do use Selsun Blue how long until I see results. Thanks!Selsun blue- Can Selsun blue medicated shampoo help wtih skin discoloraration?
Selsun Blue is used to help with Tinea versicolor.

This is a fungus that is naturally on your skin but when it gets hot out it can be an outbreak.

This causes white little patches mostly on your torso but can also be on your arms and face.

These feel itchy like someone is pricking you with a small needle.

Selsun blue just clears the fungus. Not the spots...

The best thing you can do is see your doctor and they might know how to even your skin tone.

Will purple/blue shampoo for blonde/grey hair help remove red tones/brassiness on dyed med. golden brown hair?

I just used Feria Medium Golden Brown drugstore hair color, over top of drugstore colored dark ash blonde. The result was a LOT more red than I had wanted.. I have Light Blue Shade (the dark blue/purple shampoo) that is for really light blonde/grey hair to remove brassiness in light hair, will it help my current hair color? Will purple/blue shampoo for blonde/grey hair help remove red tones/brassiness on dyed med. golden brown hair?
It will reduce the red alittle. Which maybe all you need to start liking it. Just remember purple or blue shampoo only last for 5-7 days or 3 washes. So just use it once a week. I once used my shampoo a lot more than i should have, (i have white blonde hair.) it turned purple! Will purple/blue shampoo for blonde/grey hair help remove red tones/brassiness on dyed med. golden brown hair?
it helps with yellow and orange. i dont see why it wouldnt help with your hair. it worked on mine. it may come a little lighter than what you intended but its better than brassy hair, right?

Who makes Dark blue coloured shampoo for dark hair?

Hello, I had a blueberry shampoo by Toni and Guy which was dark blue in colour and helped to darken my hair. They dont make it anymore. Does anyone know of who makes dark blue colured shampoo that helps to darken hair? Or keeps dark hair dark?

ThanksWho makes Dark blue coloured shampoo for dark hair?
john freida, pantene pro-v, and tresemme all make lines of hair shampoo that are made specifically for certain hair colors. I use the pantene pro-v for red hair (called hair expressions), and it preserves my red hair color a little longer than just using a normal shampoo. It does not deposit color however... which is a bummer. Freeman has a shampoo and conditioner combo that states that it does, unfortunately I don't know much about it as the one I saw was for dark brown and not something I was interested in.Who makes Dark blue coloured shampoo for dark hair?
    try tresemme?
