Can dandruff shampoos like Selsun Blue/ Denorex cause hairloss?

I used to have very flaky hair so I used Denorex and it worked.. Used it for several years, no problem but I had to switch to selsun blue (because for a while denorex wasn't in any store around me for some reason), lately I've noticed I'm losing amounts of hair out of the norm, even my mother said it's a little bit more than what she thinks would be normal.. I plan to see a doctor, but I'm curious if this has to do with the shampoo, or perhaps stress(I've been in and out of court for the past year, and I lost my job) I've been working out more and I've always ate right.. I've dropped down 20 pounds in the past 3 or so months..

I should also mention the most comes out when I'm washing my hair.. I've never noticed this much before.. Not even a month ago..

I'm a 22 year old male with long thicker hair.. Very few men in my family are bald too..

So, shampoo, stress, diet? Or maybe all..Can dandruff shampoos like Selsun Blue/ Denorex cause hairloss?
yes, shampoo, stress and diet.

stress and losing large amounts of weight always cause more hair to fall out.

also check to make sure u are not allergic to anything in the shampoo, this happens a lot and people don't even realize it.

if ur not flaky anymore, don't use it. use a regular shampoo and when u do get flaky start to use the dandruff one again.

check to make sure u r not allergic to anythign in the shampoo, like wheat, this can sometimes cause internal problems which then lead to severe dandruff or dermatitis. Can dandruff shampoos like Selsun Blue/ Denorex cause hairloss?
Im no doctor but it sounds like it stress if its not then i say diet. I use danfruff shampoo (not that brand though) and have never heard of it ever causing hair loss. Once the dandruff is under control use a gentler shampoo as it really not meant to be used constancely then if it get bad again use it then. Like you said you would go see the doctor. All the best.
I had a good friend that used ';Head and Shoulders'; fine..but switched to ';Selsun Blue'; and started noticing a big hair loss..switched back to the ';Head and Shoulders'; and their hair started growing back..he said that his barber said that it appeared the hair was broken and very dry !
I have used them all, and have psoriasis to boot, but have no hair loss. Could be an allergic reaction though, that is specific to you.

  • Are shampoos that contain 'red 40' or 'blue 1' harmful to your hair / skln?

i noticed that a lot of shampoos contain all these color / dye stuff in them.

just curious, but would my hair or skin turn red if i keep using shampoos

that contain 'red 40' or 'blue 1' in them?

i don't think it would actually change my skin / hair color since i've been

using the same shampoos for quite a while,

but as i said, i'm just sort of curious :]Are shampoos that contain 'red 40' or 'blue 1' harmful to your hair / skln?

    Good purple/blue shampoos for blondes?

I bleached my hair white-blonde and I noticed it was getting darker/yellowy, and some people told me that I should use purple/blue colored shampoos (not the bottle, the actual shampoo haha!) to tone done the yellowness and keep it that platinum shade.

Can anybody reccomend me some good ones?Good purple/blue shampoos for blondes?
You could just put some platinum toner in it, it's only like 10 $ or something at amphigory.com.Good purple/blue shampoos for blondes?

    Shampoo Blues!?

I have thick thick hair and use a ton of shampoo and conditioner every day. i always have a little left in the bottom of the bottle, but need to use more than that little bit. Would it hurt my hair if i mixed the shampoo or conditioner together with the other almost empty bottles. And also is there a really good but not too expensive brand that would work for my hair?Shampoo Blues!?
It's not good to wash your hair everyday. I have thick hair too and my shampoo and conditioenr bottles last about 3 months. And yes, it's ok to mix together two different types of shampoos (and same for conditioners). Any shampoo and conditioner should be good for your hair, if you have dry/damaged/frizzy hair I suggest Dove Advanced Care Sheer Moisture. I think that you should try Dove no matter what your hair is like.

    鈾milyShampoo Blues!?
I have the same problem. I use Pravana Products they are great. You dont have to wash your hair everyday and shouldnt it is better for you hair.

I use the Pravana Hydrating shampoo and conditioner.

After about four weeks you will have a hard time not touching your hair.

Most places only sell the small size I have the salon I go to order me the liter size.
i dont think there is anything wrong or bad about mixing 2 bottles of the same shampoo or conditioner. Tresseme would work good for you. I actually bought a gallon of it at a wholesale club several months ago and im still not out.

Difference between Selsun Blue Shampoos? ?

I'm wanting to change shampoos %26amp; conditioners

%26amp; thought I'll give Selsun Blue ago. I've been using Head %26amp; Shoulders for a long time now.

However I noticed Selsun has 3 different ranges:

    Selsun Blue

    Selsun Blue Naturals

    Selsun Salon

Is there any difference between the 3???

Plus with dandruff can you only use shampoo? =\

Coz Selsun Blue has a lot of shampoo %26amp; zero conditioners on its own.Difference between Selsun Blue Shampoos? ?
Selsun Blue uses a selenium compound for dandruff control instead of Head 'n Shoulders' pyrithone zinc. I assume their other products have the same amount of active ingrdient (1% of the selinium compound) as the original product.

Last month I saw a Head 'n Shoulders product in a dark blue bottle that has the same active ingredient as Selsun, and the price is about 1/2 as much per ounce. At that rate you can afford a separate conditioner and get the same dandruff control of the Selsun product!

What shampoo & conditioner should i use for my red or blue highlights to stay in?

%26amp; do they look Emo? %26amp; when i get them, do i need to dye streaks in my hair blonde FIRST.or what?

TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO PLEEASE.What shampoo %26amp; conditioner should i use for my red or blue highlights to stay in?
red fades so fast!!!What shampoo %26amp; conditioner should i use for my red or blue highlights to stay in?
Red will stay longer and not fade to green like a blue would most likely do. The hair cut and style determine if the hair looks emo or not. Some kits are a 2 in 1 where it bleaches and colors blue or red in one box or one step, but some others you do separately, depends on what you get and where from. You may not need to prelighten your hair before you put the red in because some will be bright enough on even darker hair. For the blue though, you will probably need to lighten it up first in order for it to come out bright. Sally Beauty Supply has a lot of options to check out and the people that work there can almost certainly help.
For every highlight type, there is a shampoo AND conditioner to come with it. If you did them ur self then somewhere on the bottle there should say something about it, if u did it at the salon ask the ppl and if they have it, theyll sell em tpo you. if not they will probly write down a name and/or tell u where to buy it/em!

    Hope it helped!
you should use shampoo and conditioner for colored hair. and it would look emo only if you dressed the part to. lol

to make the color pop, you need to ethier bleach streaks ir dye them blonde.
